The pain of never being enough
No matter how hard you try,
The pain of holding in your tears
When you really need to cry.
The fear of asking for what you want
And of asking for what you need
The fear of setting healthy boundaries
Because of the desperate need to please
The weight of carrying generations of trauma
And issues you never asked for,
The weight of wondering if you’ll break the cycle
Or repeat the patterns of generations before.
I hope these are things you’ll never know
I hope these are things you’ll never be,
And with all my heart I really do hope
That the cycle can stop with me.
